    The fragment was purchased about the year 1887 from James Andrew Sandilands Grant in Cairo and donated to the University of Aberdeen after his death (Winstedt 1901, 257; Turner 1939, V). According to Reinach 1905 the papyri were originally found in the Arsinoites; Turner 1939, V also suggests from internal evidence that the bulk of the collection may have come from the excavations carried out by local diggers in Soknopaiou Nesos.
